Evaluation 7 - Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
From completing the preliminary task, to filming and editing our short opening of a film, I feel that I have learnt a lot when it comes to editing and camerawork.
From using the editing programme Premier Pro, I have learnt a lot more on editing as I have been able to learn how to cut videos into making them smaller and piecing smaller parts of videos together, to create a longer video. I have also learnt how to add in different video and audio transitions, such as cross dissolve effect to make the film look more exciting and eye catching. I have also learnt how to lower the decibels of sound and also how to higher it to create a more synchronous sound effect.
With camerawork, I have used a lot more different shots, such as zooms when using something important in the film. I also used a low angle shot when the bully in the film was walking across a room, I used this shot to make her look more powerful and in control.  in the preliminary task, there wasn't many different shots being used. Whereas in our film, there were more shots such as close ups on important objects and low angle shots when someone more powerful is in the shot.

I feel as though our planning has improved as when we was going to film our preliminary task, we didn't do much planning. Whereas for our final film, we had done a lot more planning for it in order for it to be successful. For example, we planned out how we wanted our characters to dress and the costumes that they would be wearing, we also planned out the storyboard and script of the film too.

Evaluation 6 - what have you learnt about the technologies from the process of constructing this product?

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

In order to film our short opening of a film, we used a Panasonic HD camera to capture all of the footage.

We also used a computer to be able to upload all of our filming onto and to use the programme Premier Pro to edit the film. I also used the computer to upload tasks/work to my blog account.

Also, we used a programme on the computer called 'Premier Pro' in order to edit our film.

I used Youtube to upload my preliminary task and put the link of it onto my blog so that I could write about the preliminary task.

Also, I used the Blogger to be able to upload all of the tasks and research that I have completed.

Evaluation 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product?

Who would be the audience for your media product?
The target audience for our short opening of a film would be someone who can relate to the film. For example, the main character is a girl who has been bullied a lot and has no friends and feels lonely a lot of the time, so the target audience would be people who feel like this too, that way they are able to relate to the film.
The type of target audience member would wear clothes that are mostly dull, just like the main character Holly as it connotes her depressing mood. For example, dark trousers/leggings and a dull coloured top, e.g. grey or black. They would usually shop in places where a lot of people don’t visit, for example they wouldn’t really want to be seen in shopping centres because they don’t want to be judged or bullied by the other big groups of girls that are usually seen shopping in big shopping centre. Therefore they would stick to shopping in places like small charity shops.
The music taste that our target audience would have is dull and depressing music, it would be slow and peaceful as they would want to relate to the words or the more depressing songs. Their favourite TV programmes would be programmes such as nature programmes and discovery channels because of their geeky characteristics.

Evaluation 3 - what kind of media insitution might distribute your media product and why

Script for 'director's commentary' style voiceover

What does a production company do?

A production company helps to create the film and assists in the budgeting, scheduling, casting and more. they are responsible for finding a director for the film and the majority of the acting talent. They are also responsible for anything that may go wrong in the film or if anything is damaged.

The idea of the distributor and who that might be and why.

A distributor is someone who coordinates the distribution of the finished movie to exhibitors as well as the sale of the film, DVD, Blu-Ray and other media on which the movie will be made available. our distributor would be a company such as Artificial Eye as our film is an independent film.
Where the money might have come from for a film such as yours.
The money for our film would have come from investors who are interested in teen angst films or we could get a national lottery grant.
Why the various people are named in the titles? which job titles appear and in what order and how have you reflected this?
All of the titles in the film are set in big, bold, cartoon like fonts to represent the teen angst theme. Titles include 'Produced by Ellie Hancock' 'Filmed by Chelsea Cox' and  'Edited by Becky Black'
What your film is similar to 'institutionally'
Our film institutionally is similar to the independent film 'selfish giant' in the ways of which it is distributed to exhibitors as they are both targeted to niche audiences. Selfish Giant is distributed by Artificial Eye which is an independent film company that would be suited to also distribute our film.

Evaluation 2 - How does your media product represent particular social groups?

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The main character in our film is Holly, who in the film is very lonely and doesn't have many friends. Another film that has a character similar to Holly would be Mean Girls, the main character in this film is called Cady. Cady is on her own in the beginning of the film with no friends and is a very lonely character, she sits on her own a lot and tends not to talk too other people. She wears pale colours in the film such as baby pinks and baby blues to connote the innocence of her.

The other main character in our film is Chanel who is the bully in the film and she sees herself as being 'better than everyone else' and bully's the other main character, Holly. Chanel relates to the character Regina George from mean girls who is seen as the best girl in school and manipulates other people and also bully's them too. Regina George bully's a lot of people in the film Mean Girls but is also seen as one of the prettiest and most liked girls in the school because of the fact that she is blonde and pretty. Regina wears a lot of makeup along with short skirts which is stereotypical of a popular girl in school.

Evaluaton 1 - 9 frames/ storyboard

9 frames/storyboard

The first frame:

The first frame shows our production logo, which is called 'Oscar productions'. We decided to call it this as it relates to the Oscar winning awards given to highly rated films.

The second frame:

The second frame in our film is a close up of the phone of the main character, Holly. She is receiving abusive text messages from the bully of the film, Chanel, who is giving her abuse for throwing a rubbish party.

The third frame:

The third frame shows Holly crying in the school hallways, she is alone with no friends which represents her character through out the whole film. She is wearing very dull colours to match her depressing mood and energy.

The fourth frame:

In the fourth frame, we see a medium shot of the bully of the film Chanel receiving her invite to Holly's party, which she only invited her to so that she could gain friends.

The fifth frame:

The fifth frame shows a shot of Chanels phone receiving the invite, which would create tension for the audience because they would be wondering whether Chanel would want to go to a girls party who she bully's.

The sixth frame:

The sixth frame shows a low angle shot of Chanel walking looking at the invite on her phone, a low angle shot was used to make her look like she has the power of the scene and makes her seem intimidating to others.

The seventh and eighth frame:

These two frames both show Holly and Chanel getting ready for the party. You can see that Holly is wearing more innocent colours like pinks and red, whereas Holly is wearing all black which would connote the counter typical behaviour of her, as she is seen as a dark character.

The ninth frame:

This frame shows a medium close up of the bottles from the night of the party, you an see that from this shot there was a lot of people at the party and that Holly's house was trashed without her parents knowing she had the party.
