Preliminary Task

The Preliminary Task

Explanation:
So that I could create a preliminary task, I followed a story board which had told me what it was that I should film. the pictures that are on the story board is what I recorded on the camera. When filming the preliminary task, I had to make sure that i included three camera rules: match on action, shot reverse shot and the 180 degree rule. The first shot I filmed is a long shot of someone walking towards a door which was then cut into a close up of a hand holding onto a door handle. Then, I used another long shot of the person walking through the door which then turned into a shot of the person walking through the door but from the other side of the room. From doing this shot, I was able to show the match on action rule as we can see that the person actually did walk through the door but without the cut happening. the fourth step was to film to people having a conversation opposite each other, this shot included the 180 degree rule which means that the camera wasn't allowed to film past 180 degrees. Finally, we had to film a shot conversation between the two people and make sure that it was file with a shot reverse shot.

What I have learnt and improvements for next time:
from doing this task, I have learnt how to use the 180 degree rule and also what a short reverse shot is and how it can be used. From editing this preliminary task, we came across an editing programme called 'Premier Pro', from using this I have learnt how to piece small films together to make a whole one. Also, I learned new skills such as how to cut films, and adding fades into them.
If I had to redo this task again, I would make sure that each part of filming was more accurate. For example, I would use zoom when someone was talking so that it was clear that they would be the mai focus.
