Setting and Mise-En-Scene

 

This image shows a shot of one of the settings used in the film, which is a high school. From this image, we can see that it is filled with teenagers, this is a typical setting used in a teen angst film as this is where teenagers go to school and are also seen socialising a lot of the time. The lighting in the shot is very high key as it shows the mood that the teenagers are feeling which we can also see on the look of the group of girls faces, they look very happy. The girls are wearing very short skirts and cropped tops which is typical of them as this is what most teenage girls are expected to wear.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Camerawork

 

This image shows a long shot of 3 of the characters in the film in a restaurant. From this use of shot we can get a more clear image of what's going on, we are able to see that there is a boy kissing a girl and then another girl standing over them with her mouth dropped and eyebrows raised, which shows that she is in shock to see what she is seeing and also disappointed. This is typical from each of the teenagers as in most teen angst films there is always drama that usually involves a boy and two girls.

 

 

 

 

Characters

 

This is one of the main characters in the film, John Tucker. He seems to be a typical teenage boy as he is quite muscular and in this image he also has his top off which would show the typical teenage boy behaviour of that they like to show off.



 

 

This is an image of the other main character in the film, she could be seen as typical as by the looks of the shot you can tell that she is in a school setting because she is sitting down with a pen in her hand which connotes that she is working, and also in the background you can see chairs and tables. This is typical of a teenage girl as they are more likely to be seen doing their school work compared to a boy. However, she may be seen as a countertype because of what she is wearing, she has a long sleeved top on, when usually most teenage girls wear revealing tops to gain themselves attention.
