Grease analysis
Setting and Mise-En-Scene
The setting I this scene is typical for a teen angst movie, this is because it is at a carnival/fete where there would be loud music and possibly alcohol, this makes it a very typical place for teenagers to be out socialising with each other. As the picture shows, we can see a group of teenagers walking in the setting and also other teenagers in the background of the photo, showing that it is a popular place.
The Mise-En-Scene in this picture is shown through the lighting being very light which connotes the typical happy mood of the teenagers in the film. We can also see that the girl on the right is dressed very stereotypically for a teenage girl as she is wearing bright colours and also shorts with her top buttons undone a little bit which is seen as a typical outfit that a teenage girl would wear. The other girl is seen as being typical in the way that she is wearing an off the shoulder top but a countertype as she is wearing dull, black colours just like the boys in the photo.
Camerawork
This picture shows a medium close up of a main character Sandy holding a bottle of alcohol with her friend next to her, looking at her. The picture shows a typical bedroom of a teenager girl as it has a lot of pink/pale colours to connote the innocence. However, the innocence is taken away when we see that Sandy is holding a bottle of alcohol. Her face looks very worried as she raises her eyebrows and has her mouth open a little bit as though she is in shock, this makes it seem as though it is her first time having alcohol. Her friend next to her, is leaning forward holding onto Sandy's chair and her arm which could connote that she is persuading Sandy to drink it. This is seen as typical as teenagers tend to try things like alcohol in these years of age.
Characters
One of the main characters in this film is a girl called Sandy. looking at the picture below, we can see that in the beginning of the film (the picture on the left), Sandy is very happy and seems to be quite innocent, we can see this by the cheesy grin that she has on her face and also by the colo0ur of her clothes. Sandy wears a white frilly dress/top which is a very pale colour which we would relate to people who are innocent. She also wears her hair half up with a white hairband around it which also connotes her innocence as we would relate this to how a child would wear their hair, and as we all know, we relate children to being innocent too. in the second picture on the right, Sandy looks a lot different and she doesn't seem to be as stereotypical like she is in the picture on the left. Sandy wears much more dark colours such as black and dark red/orange. we would relate these colours to people who are more powerful and we don't usually see girls dressed in dark colours. She also has big hoop earring and a cigarette hanging from her mouth, the big hoop earrings and cigarette in her mouth are often seen as normal behaviour from a typical teenager.
The other main character in this film is Danny, he comes across as a typical teenage boy as he is dressed up in a black leather jacket with a cigarette hanging from his mouth. The black leather jacket is a typical piece of clothing for a teenage boy to wear as the dark colour represents the power that most teenage boys think that they have and the leather would also make him stand out and be seen as 'cool'. The cigarette hanging from Danny's mouth also makes people view him as being a stereotypical teenager because most people see teenagers as people who make bad decisions like smoking and drinking alcohol.
